Dog Registration
All Dogs over the age of three months must be registered, microchipped and wear a collar with a registration tag. Registrations are due on November 1 of each year and can be obtained for a period of one or three years. Dog registration fees are set by the State Government.

Your Responsibilities
Owners have legal responsibilities which are intended for the convenience of residents. Please:
- Attach the registration tag and identification tag to the collar.
- Don’t let your dog wander without proper control.
- Keep the animal generally quiet.
- Clean up after your pet in public places.
- Dogs must be restrained on a leash in public places at all times.
A dog attack is a very serious matter. If your dog attacks a person or other animal, you will be held responsible, even if you were not there at the time. There are penalties of up to $10,000 and/or 12 months in jail for a dog attack or inciting a dog attack.
Ranger
The Shire of Perenjori contracts ranger duties to Canine Control, who conduct random monthly patrols in the Perenjori townsite.>
Pound
If your dog wanders from home, it may be picked up by the Ranger or Shire employees and taken to the pound. The Council pound is situated within the Loading Street Depot. Fees are imposed on all impounded animals and are payable to the Shire of Perenjori before the release of the animal. After 72 hours, an impounded animal, if not claimed or released, is disposed of.
Dog Complaints
Dog complaints should be reported at the Shire of Perenjori in person and a Dog Complaint Form is required to be completed.
Cat Registration
All cats over the age of 6 months must be sterilised, registered, microchipped and wear a collar with a registration tag. Registrations are due on November 1 each year and can be obtained for a period of one year, three years or life.
